Following damage caused by Storm Babet last October, Quill Falcon recently sent a surface preparation team to work alongside Total Project Integration and Southbay Civil Engineering Limited on an exciting restoration project at the South Pier Lighthouse in South Shields.
The restoration includes the complete removal of all existing lead-based paint using specialised Quill Falcon Precision Dustless Blasting equipment to prime and prepare all the exposed metalwork in readiness for repainting. Work also includes a full interior repaint with modern, durable paints, replacement of timber structures within the lighthouse itself and the reglazing of the lantern.
As the project is still ongoing, there is no public access to the Pier during this time, however the Port of Tyne will issue updates as the work progresses.
